I was pretty hesitant to order this tool because the price looked too good to be true (less than a fiver). I took the plunge and was hoping it would be good enough to at least finish a couple of projects I'd been postponing while looking for a new cable-tie tool for personal use.

As soon as I pulled it out of the package, I was impressed. It has a lot more heft than the picture indicates. I eagerly jumped in on those overdue projects to give it a try.

The tension is adjustable over a broad range. The only real gripe is that the knob near the base of the handle that adjusts the tension requires a _lot_ of turns. The tool has indicator numbers from 1 to 8 to indicate the set tension and it seemed to take around ten turns for each numerical step.

The jaws grab the ties firmly and do not slip. The teeth cut cleanly and predictably. I found it best to give it a couple of half squeezes to make sure the tie is ready for final tension. A setting of 6 gave excellent results when using Gardner-Bender 75lb 14" ties to secure wires to a square steel post.

I've used more expensive tools in the past (Panduit, Paladin - owned by people I'd worked with) and while this one is not nearly as pretty, it works almost as well as the others. If you're a professional contractor securing thousands of ties per month on the job, drop a hundred bucks or more on the professional tool. But if, like most of us, you're just a hobbyist or are working around the home or office, there's absolutely no downside to buying this tool.
